Colours 03:30
COLOURS-Dee trewartha ‘coz I’m Blue as the bluest sky Green as the green of your eyes Redder than the reddest rose Sun shines in through the window and the room overflows Can you wake up with me it’s a brand new day? Can you wake up with me we’re not going to work today? I dreamed about a yellow ribbon tied around the old gum tree Seems to be a little sign of the times that says that you’re still here with me I know I missed your party, and I know I didn’t come to see you play, I know I didn’t make it to your house to meet some extra groovy friends that day, & I know it may seem strange to you but I chose to walk the dog instead, But it’s a quality, an excellence of life that brings a little bit of clarity to my head! Blue as the bluest sky green as the green of my lovers eyes Redder than the reddest rose Sun shines in through the window and the room overflows Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, So it rains so it shines & the words pass on from me to you, Me to you.

Lazy River 04:03
Lazy River –Dee trewartha Won’t you come into my kitchen won’t you Come on inside. ‘Cause lifes too long to dream away and it’s too short to let slip by. Won’t you come along with me and we’ll take a little ride Down the lazy river that’s deep and cool and wide Won’t you build me a boat won’t you carry me away Down the lazy brown river on a lazy blue day? When the sky seems so blue like it’s not that far away Down the lazy river on a lazy day. The air smells like sunshine, the roses all in bloom. The warm breeze washes over me like honey sweet perfume, and the sky seems so blue like I could float me away with the lilies and the wildflowers and the sweet smell of the hay. Won’t you….. The taste of wild cherries and the humming of the bees. The sound of the river’s just as pretty as you please And the water’s so blue it can wash your tears away Down the lazy brown river on a lazy blue day Won’t you….

A lady was walking all on a summer’s day She came to a meadow so brilliant & green, So brilliant green. Along came a-riding a young man so handsome. On a white horse he was riding with scarlet ribbons. Said the young man to the lady “Where are you going to?” When the sun shines so brightly on this meadow green, All on the meadow green. Said the lady to the young man “On this fine morning, I will gather yellow flowers to make a crown for my hair, To make a crown for my hair.” “Come with me , to the sea, that sparkles like a jewel. We will dive beneath the water so blue & cool- So blue & cool. Me with my yellow flowers, you & your scarlet ribbons.” Beneath the water so cool…

If diamonds were forever and they were all I need to please me, To stimulate and tease me then you would be a girls best friend. If the world were not enough it would be such a perfect place to start my love and you would be a girls best friend Chorus But you know tomorrow never dies unless we Choose to die another day but I am for your eyes only But tomorrow never dies unless we Choose to die another day but I am for your eyes only We’ll soar across the sky to find the man with the golden eye and we can live and let die and you will be my best friend But you only live twice and your second time is not as nice and that’s why you’ll never be a girl’s best friend And she plays the game for your heart but you never take the fall With your view to a kill you know the winner takes it all And she’ll play you for your heart with a view to a kill She could live and let die but she knows you never will

Maralinga 04:35
This is a rainy land this is a rainy land no thunder in our sky no trees stretching high but this is a rainy land My name is Yami Lester I hear I talk I touch but I am blind my story comes from darkness listen to my story now unwind this is a rainy land First we heard two big bangs we thought it was the great snake digging holes Then we saw the big cloud then the big black mist began to roll this is a rainy land A strangeness on our skin a soreness in our eyes like weeping fire a pox upon our skin a boulder on our backs all our lives this is a rainy land this is a rainy land no thunder in our sky no trees stretching high but this is a rainy land My name is Millipuddy they captured me and roughly washed me down then my child stopped kicking then they took away my man to town they said do you speak English? he said I know that Jesus loves me I know because the bible tells me so I know that Jesus loves me I know because the bible tells me so This is a rainy land this is a rainy land no thunder in our sky no trees stretching high but this is a rainy land

Rainbow 03:10
The waves they roll in and the tide is high Breath of the wind blows clouds from the sky, Sun will sink low in a wheel of fire with Seven great spokes of colours so fine 7 red ships come sailing in with 7 red sails against the sky 7 wild swans with wings of gold will carry me up from sea to sky The sky holds a tapestry stitched so fine Draped from the hands of Southern winds In the clouds there are drops in the drops there are seas In the seas there are ships with sails so fine.

Restless 04:54
Here he comes he’s just falling down He’s been driven by the rain in his heart and he’s restless as he goes Is he falling? Well why is he falling? Are the hands of his destiny just pushing him down, and He see’s her coming. He says ‘Why is she coming?’ because In his heart he is afraid he might really love her and he’s Restless as he goes. Will you stay with me, will you be my lover? I’ll write you a letter saying I’m not so far from home. If you’ll stay with me and you’ll be my lover I’ll write you this letter saying I’m not so far from home and I’m Restless as I go He’s just a man but she feels like such an ordinary girl. She hates to think she’ll lose him but she really fears to lose herself. We see each other through such delicate walls made of glass With uneasy confidence as we negotiate our future from our past, And we’re restless as we go. Will you stay with me, will you be my lover? I’ll write you a letter saying I’m not so far from home. If you’ll stay with me and you’ll be my lover I’ll write you this letter saying I’m not so far from home and we’re Restless as we go and we’re Restless as we go and we’re Restless as we go.

about

The Fiddle Chicks create an incredible amount of sounds, using -believe it or not!-only fiddles and voice!
"Don't Worry About Brucie" is a powerful album that displays strong musicianship with unique song writing. The album contains a split of innovative covers and compelling originals. "Don't Worry About Brucie" places a large emphasis on diversity, focusing on numerous musical styles that blend together seamlessly to create an album that takes the listener to another place. This is the type of album you’ll listen to and find a song that fits whichever mood you are feeling on that day. Album opener ‘Colours’ is a descriptive and emotive song that is a sound indication of the talents of The Fiddle Chicks. With the rhythmic plucking of the fiddles and the introduction of Dee Trewartha’s sublime vocals this song really shows the talented writing on offer throughout this album. The harmonies in this song, coupled with the sustained fiddles creates an infectiously positive atmosphere...
...Following tracks ‘Colours’, ‘Mango’, Lazy River’ and ‘Scarlet Rhythm’ are upbeat numbers that create an uplifting mood in the listener. Clever chord progressions allow this feeling to build further and when combined with Dee Trewartha’s warm vocals, it creates something special. ‘Double-Oh-Seven’, ‘Rainbow’ and ‘Restless’ achieve the reverse by offering a sense of foreboding and darkness for the listener. These songs also show the complexity of Emma Luker‘s lead fiddle work, which really comes to the fore in these songs. ‘Double-Oh-Seven’ is a personal favourite and Emma Luker’s soaring lead work is fantastic. It made me think differently about James Bond..." Review, Hamish Cox, Music SA, 13th August 2009
